Koh Tao is well known as one of the best diving locations in the world and attracts many thousands of divers every year. But what is it about Koh Tao diving that makes it such a popular choice?...

Year-Round Scuba Diving Season

Compared to many other popular scuba locations – and even other Thailand diving destinations – Koh Tao has a much longer season. While other diving hot spots may close for up to six months of the year, Koh Tao is diveable all year round. Of course, conditions do vary throughout the year, so it pays to check more information about the Koh Tao diving seasons before you book.

Variety of Dive Sites

Koh Tao scuba diving sites are incredibly varied, and you don’t need to move far for the underwater topography to change completely! So Koh Tao dive holidays are always interesting with lots of different corals and marine life to see. With close to 50 dive sites ranging from shallow sandy spots perfect for Koh Tao dive courses like the PADI Discover Scuba Diving class and the PADI Open Water Diver program, to deeper pinnacles better suited to fun diving trips and PADI Advanced Open Water Diver courses, there is something for every diver. We even have a WW2 wreck for you to explore!

Full Range of PADI Courses

Whatever course you are looking to take, our PADI 5 Star Dive Centre on Koh Tao can cater to your needs. As a destination famous for learning to dive, Koh Tao is most popular for PADI Discover Scuba Diving and PADI Open Water Diver courses. However, a full range of PADI dive courses from beginner to professional level are available, including many PADI Specialty Diver programs. Learning with a PADI 5 Star Dive Centre, you can be assured of maximum professionalism and high standards both in and out of the water. Our dive resort offers Koh Tao dive packages for every course option, making your diving holiday hassle-free.

Convenient Fun Diving Schedules

If you are already certified, then you’ll love fun diving on Koh Tao. As most of the dive sites are very close, you don’t need to spend hours on a boat getting there and back. So when you stay at our Koh Tao dive resort, you can choose from either morning or afternoon diving, and the rest of the day is yours to relax and enjoy your vacation. Our PADI 5 Star Dive Centre runs two trips a day, each with two dives. All of our Koh Tao dive packages include equipment, a guide, and complimentary snacks and refreshments on our dive boats.

Koh Tao offers the highest standards when it comes to diver safety and diver training. The island certifies over 80,000 divers a year across the many different PADI courses on Koh Tao, and, put simply, it is just impossible to do this unless investment is made into dive infrastructure, and safety measures are in place and followed. PADI has an active presence on the island, and our PADI 5 Star Dive Centre is regularly visited by regional managers for evaluations and to keep us up to date with the latest training standards and developments. Plus, at our Koh Tao PADI dive resort, our team is hand-picked to include some of the most professional and experienced PADI instructors in the region.

Koh Tao has world-class emergency response and rescue teams, and while not used regularly, this is an important part of safety planning. There is also a recompression chamber located less than 2 hours away – much closer than you’ll find at other popular diving destinations in Thailand, and worldwide.

Easy Diving Conditions

Koh Tao has the easiest conditions of all Thailand diving destinations. Thailand scuba diving is generally not considered challenging, however in some places you can still experience strong currents and changeable conditions with thermoclines affecting water temperature and visibility. Koh Tao dive sites, however, are not subject to strong currents, thermoclines, or any sudden changes in water temperature or visibility. This makes diving on Koh Tao more relaxed and enjoyable than in other destinations.
